About PeerDrop: Secure P2P File Transfer
PeerDrop is a revolutionary way to send files between devices on the same network or across the globe. By leveraging WebRTC technology, PeerDrop establishes a secure, direct, peer-to-peer (P2P) connection between you and the recipient. This means you can transfer massive files, folders, and documents at lightning speed without ever uploading them to a centralized cloud server.
How to Use
- 1
Host a Room: Click 'Send File' to generate a secure 6-letter room code and QR code.
- 2
Join a Room: The recipient enters the code or scans the QR code on their device.
- 3
Transfer: Once connected, simply drag and drop files into the drop zone.
- 4
Download: The recipient can instantly download the files directly from their browser.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are there any file size limits?
Synvara Studios imposes zero file size limits. However, since the transfer happens in your browser's memory, extremely large files (e.g., 50GB+) may cause older devices to run out of RAM. For 99% of files, it works flawlessly.
Are my files secure during transfer?
Yes. WebRTC connections are mandatory end-to-end encrypted (DTLS and SRTP protocols). Since there is no intermediary server storing your files, they cannot be intercepted or hacked from a central database.
Do both devices need to be on the same Wi-Fi?
No! While being on the same local network ensures the fastest transfer speeds, PeerDrop works over the open internet as well, seamlessly traversing NATs and firewalls.
